Frank van HemertFrank van Hemert (1956) is a Dutch artist who became famous at a very young age when he was featured at Documenta 7 in Kassel. He first studied at TeHaTex in Tilburg and later enrolled in the prestigious Ateliers ’63 in Haarlem where he was ‘discovered’ by influential art critic and curator Rudi Fuchs who took him to Kassel with him. Frank works as a painter, collagist, draftsman and sculptor. Themes he works with include: identity, death, suffering, isolation, love and eroticism. His work has been acquired by many international museums and collectors, including: Stedelijk Museum, Bonnefanten Museum, Frans Hals Museum, Museum Van Bommel Van Dam, Van Abbe Museum, Museum De Fundatie, virtually all large Dutch institutional collections as well as prominent museums in Germany, France, the US and elsewhere.
