Luigi Benzoni

Luigi BenzoniLuigi Benzoni (Clusone, Italy, 1954) is a well known sculptor, and painter. He was educated at the Università degli studi di Bergamo and the Istituto Universitario di Architettura Venezia where he read architecture and art history. Benzoni was a student of Gio Ponti and was influenced by Virgilio Guidi. In 1976 he settled down in Venice where he lost is hart to the art of blowing glass. This has lead to his participation in the Biennale of Venice with glass sculptures. His work can be characterized as abstract expressionism and his subject matter is mainly limited to the human body, specifically the face.His iconic faces can be viewed all over the world in exhibitions from Het Paleis (Den Haag), Mostly Glass Gallery (New York), Röhsska Museet (Göteborg) to Palazzo delle Prigioni Nuove (Venice).
