Marten HendriksMarten Hendriks (Doetinchem, 1941) is a well known painter, performance artist, videographer amongst others, who was educated at the academy of Arnhem (1958-1963). where he met his wife Elli Slegten (Wijhe, 1939). Their children: Rosemin (1968) and Lieven (1970) are both successful artists in their own right.
In the mid sixties Marten’s work started to be picked up by prominent galeries. In 1972 he held his first major exposition in the Museum of Arnhem. In 1978 he participated in group expositions in Warschau and New York. From 1977 till 2001 he was a popular teacher at the academy of Arnhem who was constantly looking for ways to integrate new technologies in his work and the curriculum of the academy. This included the early adoption of computer techniques. Marten is mainly known for his work involving the use of the later in combination with architectural themes. He aims to confuse and inspire the observer to reflection.

Work by Hendriks can be found in such collections as those of: Frans Halsmuseum, Haarlem, Centraal Museum, Utrecht, Rijksmuseum Twenthe, Enschede, Museum voor Moderne Kunst, Arnhem, CODA, Apeldoorn and numerous private collections. In 2018 the Boijmans van Beuningen Museum organized a retrospective of his work under the title “Time Slip”.
