Klaas Gubbels
Klaas Gubbels (Rotterdam, 1934) is a famous Dutch artist who lives and works in Arnhem and in his studio in France. After working as an apprentice in the advertising department of a warehouse, he completed a partial program at Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten Rotterdam in the evening hours, before enrolling in the Academy in Arnhem in the fifties. Despite this he has always seen himself as self-taught. He became well known to a larger audience for his paintings and sculptures of coffeepots and tables which he has depicted in numerous techniques, in endless variations.
