Rob Scholte
Rob Scholte (1958) studied at the Academie Minerva in Groningen, the Vrije Academie in The Hague and at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. In his early career, he was a member of the collective W139 (Warmoesstraat 139). In the mid nineties he was a lecturer at the academy of Kassel. His work is characterized by a post-modernistic approach to the theme ‘media’. Just like a seventeenth century Dutch master he works with a large number of assistants to produce works about sometimes banal subjects in a hyperrealistic style.
