Carel Lanters
Carel Lanters (1955) is a well known Dutch artist who works and lives in Arnhem, The Netherlands. He is mainly known for his sculptures and monumental works. From 1976 to 1981 Carel was enrolled at the AKI Enchede where he was mentored by such artists as Ad Gerritsen and Sigurdur Gudmundsson. From 2006 onwards Carel was himself engaged as an educator in the fine art department of the Artez Academy Arnhem. Carel Lanters is married to the well known Korean artist Eun Young Lee.
Work by Carel Lanters can be admired in the public spaces of the municipalities of: Bilthoven, Nijmegen, Heemstede, Zeist, Elst, Emmen and Dordrecht, amongst many others.
Carel Lanters’ art is present in such collections as those of the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag, CODA Apeldoorn, Museum voor Moderne Kunst Arnhem, the ABN AMRO collection, Kunstcollectie AKZO Nobel, and many others.
Carel Lanters’ work has been shown internationally in Switzerland, South Korea and Ireland amongst others. Lanters has a special relationship with Ireland where he stayed as artist in residence numerous times and participated in projects with local artists.
Numerous publications about the work of Carel Lanters have seen the light of day. They mainly feature his work involving masks and sound performances.
