Peer Veneman

Peer VenemanPeer Veneman (Eindhoven, 1952), is an internationally acclaimed artist, who was educated at the Academie Sint Joost in Breda (1971-1975). He lives and works in Amsterdam and Torrano, Italy. At the end of the eighties he spent some time in New York. Veneman is sculptor, painter as well as collagist. In the eighties he became well known for his colorful postmodern images that incorporate multiple art traditions and seem to strive to bridge the abstract and the figurative. Different media and disciplines are blurred: painted sculptures and combinations of painting and printing, drawing and photography make his work refreshing.

Work by Veneman can be found in many prominent collections such as those of: Arnhems Gemeentemuseum, Groninger Museum, Kröller Müller Museum, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and the Noordbrabants Museum, Den Bosch. Solo expositions of his work have been held at De Pont Museum, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam and in prominent Dutch and international galleries.
