Frank Shepard FaireyFrank Shepard Fairey (Charleston, VS, 1970) is a painter that has emerged from the skateboard scene of America. He was educated at the Rhode Island School of Design (1988-1992).

From 1984 onwards Shepard Fairy printed his designs on skateboards and T-Shirts. This would eventually lead to his founding of the skater’s apparel brand OBEY.

As a street artist and activist Shepard Fairey became known for his “Andre the Giant Has a Posse” sticker campagne of 1989.

He acquired world fame in 2008 with his “Hope” poster with the iconic portrait of Barack Obama.
