Henk Zweerus
Hendrik Johannes Martin (Henk) Zweerus (1920–2005) was a Dutch sculptor, painter and draughtsman. He studied at the academy in Amsterdam where he was taught amongst others by Jan Bronner. He was married to artist Hedwig Weber (1922–1987).As a teacher at the AKI academy of Enschede he taught the generation of Jan Kip and Gerard van der Leeden. And at a later date in Delft he influenced a generation of architects including Carl Weber. Henk Zweerus is mainly known for his many sculptures for the municipality of Amsterdam. A number of his sculptures can nowadays be found at Museum de Fundatie. A number of his drawings can be admired at the Rijksmuseum. The legacy of the artist couple Zweerus is safeguarded by the foundation that was established in their name.
