Judith Macrander
Judith Macrander (Amsterdam, 1971) was educated at the Koninklijke Academie voor Beeldende Kunsten, Den Haag. She lives and works in Amsterdam, both as an artist and teacher. In her work humanity plays a central role in all it’s complexity. Judith Macrander shows that images can still be very direct. From all Judith Macrander does, an immediate intimacy is apparent. In much of her work she starts from her own body. First she takes pictures and makes lots of sketches which she reworks into the final image. Some of her photographs are also part of her work. She was awarded several prizes. Her work was exhibited in Haags Gemeentemuseum, Bonnefantenmuseum Maastricht, Museum Boijmans van Beuningen and Singer museum Laren, amongst others. It can also be found in the collections of Rijksmuseum Amsterdam, Teylersmuseum Haarlem and private collections such as those of: De Baak, Ohra, Ernst & Young.
